Iron Giant’s apology could be One Piece’s latest mythological inspiration

The upcoming release of One Piece chapter 1112 is scheduled for April 22, 2024. In the previous chapter, the Gorosei’s formidable powers were on full display as they were determined to personally defeat Vegapunk. Additionally, the Straw Hat Pirates formed an alliance with the giants to face off against one of the Gorosei.

Nevertheless, the focus of the chapter was on the unveiling of the legendary Iron Giant, who rose to his feet and immediately offered an apology to the JoyBoy.

As anticipated, fans were unaware of the reason for this apology. Prior to this, they had speculated that the colossal robot was one of JoyBoy’s fellow crew members, suggesting a possible connection. Alternatively, it could be linked to an ancient robot from Greek mythology, thus tying it to the Ancient Kingdom.

The beginning of One Piece chapter 1111 saw the end of the intense battle between Lucci and Zoro, with Jinbe delivering the final blow to the CP-0 agent. However, despite being hit by Jinbe’s attack, Lucci managed to survive. The Straw Hats had to quickly escape and regroup with their allies.

The chapter also featured the reunion of the giants and Luffy’s joy at being able to see each other again. However, the Gorosei Mercury attempted to spoil the moment by unleashing a powerful blast of Conqueror’s Haki, causing Luffy’s body parts to scatter. Despite this setback, Luffy was able to quickly recover and reform his body.

Despite being attacked by the giants, the Gorosei were met with resistance when Saint Saturn attempted to join the fray with his poison. However, Luffy intervened and struck both of the Gorosei with a basketball bat. As the chapter came to a close, the Iron Giant rose to his feet and apologized to JoyBoy for some unknown reason.

The Iron Giant may have drawn inspiration from Talos, a renowned figure in Greek mythology who was tasked with guarding the ancient ruins of Europe against pirates. Being one of the earliest examples of a robot in ancient civilization, Talos’ connection to the Iron Giant in One Piece is evident.

Some fans believe that just as Talos was a guardian of the ancient ruins, the Iron Giant may have also been tasked with protecting something of great value. There is speculation that the Iron Giant served as the protector of the Ancient Kingdom, defending it from the World Government. Some fans even theorize that JoyBoy may have been a trusted ally of the Ancient Kingdom, as both he and the Iron Giant may have shared the goal of uniting the world.

Fans have also theorized that the Iron Giant may be one of the legendary weapons known as Uranus. This theory is supported by the fact that the planet Uranus, also known as the ‘Ice Giant’, is characterized by its frigid temperatures and abundance of ice-forming molecules.

After considering all of this information, it is possible that the Iron Giant was actually the legendary Uranus, a powerful weapon tasked with safeguarding the Ancient Kingdom in JoyBoy’s absence. However, the Giant’s eventual loss of power ultimately resulted in the kingdom’s downfall and the World Government’s subsequent invasion.

The Iron Giant was roused from centuries of slumber by the resounding drums of Luffy’s Gear 5 during the Egghead arc in chapter 1092, and he made his first appearance in chapter 1111. His initial utterance was a heartfelt apology to JoyBoy for his failure to defend the Ancient Kingdom against the World Government.
