VTubing sensation Ironmouse recently shared her insights on how surpassing Kai Cenat’s Twitch subscriber record can positively impact the entire VTuber community.
In recent years, the popularity of VTubers has surged significantly. Many dedicated streamers have opted to remain faceless, relying on their animated avatars to engage with viewers. Conversely, some creators have started blending their real-life appearances with animated characters.
Ironmouse fits the first category, maintaining her anonymity by never revealing her face online, even though she has met various other content creators in person.
At the end of September, Ironmouse achieved a remarkable feat by breaking Kai Cenat’s previous record for the highest number of subscribers at any given time on Twitch. Upon hearing the news, Cenat congratulated Ironmouse and expressed his intention to reclaim the title.
While Ironmouse appreciates Kai’s competitive spirit, she believes that her record-setting achievement is beneficial for all VTubers. She stated, “I have supporters from the VTuber community who view this milestone as significant for visibility. I concur, as we’ve cultivated our niche, and it’s refreshing to see more people discovering who we are and what VTubers represent,” she remarked in an interview with Rolling Stone.
“I understand it can be slightly perplexing to see an anime-themed character on screen. ‘What is going on here?’ But it definitely plays a role in making VTubing feel more mainstream,” she added.
Ironmouse’s subathon in September was an extraordinary triumph.
As previously mentioned, Kai has expressed plans to regain his record from Ironmouse, which will undoubtedly take considerable time and effort.
In the meantime, the VTuber community can take pride in having one of their own at the pinnacle of Twitch. It’s truly a remarkable achievement.
