The Destiny 2 community is buzzing with speculation that Bungie is working on a mobile game, and here’s the latest information we have on the rumored title, reportedly called Destiny Rising.
Despite facing some challenges, Destiny is currently in a difficult position as players’ expectations for the game have decreased following the news of staff reductions and significant alterations to its content. The major shifts since Final Shape have left players questioning what Bungie has planned for the future of their beloved looter shooter.
Speculation has arisen online regarding a potential partnership between Destiny and NetEase to create a new mobile game. However, is this truly in the works? Here is what we are aware of.
Destiny Mobile Game Rumors
In 2022, speculation arose that NetEase and Bungie were collaborating on a mobile FPS game for the popular Destiny franchise. A report from The Game Post stated that the project had been in progress for more than two years at the time of the rumors.
Destiny Rising
In the year 2024, following the significant layoffs at Bungie, the company made the decision to scale back the amount of content in Destiny 2 and also scrapped plans for a spinoff game titled “Payback”. This was a direct result of the reduced staff size.
Despite the significant changes at the studio, insider Kurakasis confirmed on X (formerly Twitter) that the mobile game project is still in progress and has not been terminated. According to previous rumors from 2022, the game has been in the works for approximately four years.

The Disarray Among the Destiny 2 Community
Despite claims that the Destiny mobile game is still in active development, the news was met with sadness and disbelief by much of the community.
One player expressed their extreme sadness, stating that all Bungie veterans who fell in love with the company should be remembered.
“As another person mourned, the ship had already been mostly sunk when it was struck by a torpedo.”
As of now, Bungie has not made an official announcement regarding a new title, so we are still unsure of what the developers have planned. It is important to keep in mind that things can change during the development process, so take any information with a bit of skepticism for now.
