The inspiration for the song stems from the well-known “Apartment Game” popular in Korea. Rosé shared, “The ‘Apartment Game’ is one of my all-time favorites—it’s straightforward, enjoyable, and an excellent way to uplift the spirits. One night in the studio, I introduced it to the team, and while we were engaged in the game together, the concept for the song began to take shape. Bruno Mars later joined us, and we finalized the track collaboratively.”

“APT.” has rapidly taken over social media platforms, YouTube, and short video channels. In tandem with the song’s success, the “Apartment Game” has captured the interest of K-pop enthusiasts globally, with many sharing videos of themselves participating in the game. Notable K-pop figures such as BTS’s J-Hope, IVE’s An Yujin, and LE SSERAFIM’s Kazuha and Kim Chaewon have also shared choreography videos, enhancing the excitement surrounding the song.

Thanks to its catchy melody, “APT.” has quickly been dubbed the newest “forbidden song” for students preparing for exams. Underneath the music video, comments vary from “What a surprising vibe,” to “They’ve made a catchy song out of a drinking game, and it works!” , and “It’s incredibly addictive.” Fans have expressed sentiments like, “I’ve been playing this on repeat for days and I’m not tired of it” and “This could be trouble—after a week, and I can’t stop rewatching it.”
