K-pop enthusiasts were abuzz with conjecture following the emergence of rumors suggesting a romantic connection between BLACKPINK’s Jennie and SEVENTEEN’s Mingyu.
Despite no official confirmation, global K-pop fans on Facebook and Twitter sparked rumors of a relationship between the two stars after netizens noticed them subtly wearing matching couple items on their respective social media accounts.
It was observed by fans that both Jennie and Mingyu were sporting identical black sweaters and phone cases in recent sightings.
Moreover, online users allege that Mingyu’s younger sister and Jennie may have crossed paths in Japan, as evidenced by their recent photos. The picture shared by the male idol’s sister at a restaurant bears a striking resemblance to Jennie’s recent Instagram post, sparking further speculation.
Finally, Jennie managed to attend SEVENTEEN’s “Follow Again”Tour in Seoul despite her hectic schedule, causing speculation about the true nature of her relationship with the group. Many fans expressed their curiosity on Facebook and X, but BLINKs (Jennie’s fans) and CARATs (Mingyu’s fans) quickly came to the defense of both idols and criticized the original posters for spreading such a baseless rumor.

K-pop enthusiasts find it absurd, as a black sweater is a basic wardrobe item and the phone case is not unique or personalized, making it easily accessible to anyone.
After careful consideration, they ultimately determined that the dating rumor was baseless.
In the meantime, advocates for Jennie urged internet users to stop targeting the female idol, who has consistently been involved in dating rumors with other K-pop idols.
Prior to Mingyu, there were also rumors of her dating EXO Kai, BTS V, and BIGBANG G-Dragon, all of whom were rumored to be her ex-boyfriends. However, out of all of them, only her relationship with Kai was officially confirmed.
Similar to the SEVENTEEN member, Jennie was rumored to be dating them after they were seen together in public and noticed to have matching items and clothing. At present, there has been no statement from ODD ATELIER, Jennie’s agency, addressing these speculations.
In addition to facing controversy surrounding her relationship, Jennie has also faced criticism for her behavior. Her staff bullying issue came to light when a clip of her e-smoking in front of her makeup artist was mistakenly shared on her YouTube vlog.
As the issue continued to gain attention, OA Entertainment released a statement apologizing for their role in the matter. They acknowledged that they also showed remorse to the staff, but despite this, Jennie was still criticized for not directly addressing the issue and instead relying on her label to handle it.
The situation escalated when an individual posing as a staff member appeared online, and they defended Jennie by claiming that she did not smoke in a designated non-smoking area.
Despite initial confusion, it was clarified by locals that Italy had made changes to its Tobacco Business Act in 2014, officially classifying e-cigarettes as cigarettes by including the phrase “manufactured in a form suitable for inhalation by vapor.”
Furthermore, a law was put into effect in 2005 that prohibits smoking indoors in all public places, commonly known as an indoor smoking ban.
