Is Boruto’s Kashin Koji a scientific ninja tool? Explained

As the release of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 13 approaches in a week, the manga has provided a preview of the chapter, hinting at a flashback featuring Kashin Koji and Boruto. This preview has revealed an interesting detail – the toads seen with Boruto were not actually living creatures, but rather scientific ninja tools. This has left fans wondering if Kashin Koji himself is also a scientific ninja tool.

Upon his initial appearance in the anime, Kashin Koji was introduced as a member of Kara. However, it was later revealed that he was unlike the other members, who were created to serve Isshiki. Kashin Koji’s purpose was to defeat the Otsutsuki, setting him apart from the rest of the group.

Contrary to popular belief, Kashin Koji is not a scientific ninja tool. According to the events in the Boruto anime, Amado Sanzu created him as a clone of Jiraiya with the purpose of assassinating Isshiki Otsutsuki, the leader of Kara.

As expected, being Jiraiya’s clone allowed the former Kara member to possess the ability to use ninjutsu and senjutsu, and also to effortlessly master all of Jiraiya’s jutsu. This encompassed techniques such as the shadow clone jutsu, Rasengan, Ultra-Big Ball Rasengan, and Sage Mode.

Amado’s upgrades enabled the former Kara Inner, now known as Koji, to move with incredible speed, making it possible for him to surprise and defeat his opponents from a distance. Essentially, Koji had become an enhanced version of Jiraiya thanks to Amado’s enhancements.

As such, Kashin Koji was not originally a scientific ninja tool, but rather a clone of Jiraiya that was strengthened through the use of scientific ninja tools.

So far, the only known living being to be classified as a scientific ninja tool is Kawaki. This is due to the fact that, unlike clones such as Jiraiya and Delta, Kawaki has undergone a cellular-level implantation of microscopic Shinobi-ware by Amado Sanzu. These enhancements have significantly changed Kawaki’s physical makeup, granting him extraordinary powers.

Understanding Scientific Ninja Tools

After the Fourth Shinobi World War, a new type of ninja tool was developed known as Scientific Ninja Tools. These tools were designed to assist individuals in tasks that were previously impossible to accomplish.

An excellent illustration of this can be seen in the case of Ao, a former shinobi from the Village Hidden by Mist. After the war, he suffered the loss of his right eye (Byakugan) and left arm. As a solution, Katasuke equipped him with experimental prosthetics, providing him with enhanced durability.

Despite the portrayal in the anime, it is important to recognize that Scientific Ninja Tools are not inherently good or bad. Their morality is determined by the intentions and actions of those who use them. For example, while Katasuke used his skills to aid and improve Ao, a former Shinobi and member of Kara, he also used his knowledge to make enhancements for himself and further the goals of the evil organization.

Despite this, prosthetics are not the sole type of Scientific Ninja Tools available, as there are four distinct categories. While prosthetics fall under the Bionic category, the other types include Condenser, Amplification, and Advanced Technology.
