Despite being revealed in 2023, it wasn’t until the PlayStation State of Play in May 2024 that fans were able to catch their first glimpse of Concord. While a Beta is scheduled for July, the confusion surrounding whether the game will be free to play like Overwatch 2 still remains for many fans.

Will Concord be a free-to-play title?
No, Concord is not a free-to-play game. While the final pricing has not been confirmed and the developers have not made an official statement about its payment model, there are some indications that suggest there may be a cost to play.
The main point is that the official PlayStation blog stated that preorders for Concord will open in early June, suggesting that interested individuals can buy the game in advance. Typically, free-to-play games do not offer preorders or various editions, with the exception of a Founders Pack containing additional cosmetic items.
Concord arrives on PS5 and PC on August 23.
Further evidence that there will be a cost associated with playing Concord is the announcement that a PlayStation Plus subscription will be necessary for PS5 users. This is typically only required for paid games, whereas popular free-to-play options like Fortnite and Warzone do not require a membership.
