There were numerous plot lines in the final chapter of My Hero Academia, and Deku’s father’s identity was a highly debated topic among fans.
With the release of My Hero Academia Chapter 430, it’s become clear that we will no longer be following the adventures of Deku and Class 1-A. Shigaraki has been defeated, the world has been saved, and Kohei Horikoshi is ready to move on to new projects.
One of the biggest uncertainties leading up to the conclusion of My Hero Academia was whether or not Deku’s father would finally make an appearance. Despite being mentioned and alluded to at times, he has been noticeably absent throughout the entire story.
This was the final opportunity for the two to meet – a topic that has been a subject of discussion among fans since the beginning of the story.
Is Deku’s Father Shown in My Hero Academia?
Deku’s father does not appear in Chapter 430 of My Hero Academia, just as he does not make an appearance in the manga from beginning to end.
Despite not being mentioned, the last chapter focuses more on the time skip and highlights Deku’s growth. He continues to inspire others, such as a young boy named Dai, to become heroes. Additionally, he receives a gift from All Might containing research from his battle against Shigaraki.
According to All Might, the present was funded by the other students and Bakugo and was made in the US, although its exact nature remains unknown. To conclude, we witness Deku in action once again as a professional hero, accompanied by a large graphic featuring all of his classmates, indicating their ongoing dedication to fighting for justice.
Kohei Horikoshi had promised Deku’s dad would show up
Kohei Horikoshi, the mastermind behind My Hero Academia, made it known that Deku’s father would eventually make an appearance. Speaking to fans at San Diego Comic-Con 2018, Horikoshi stated, “In the future, Deku’s father will be unveiled.”

Despite knowing his name, Hisashi Midoriya, we still know very little about him. At the time of Kohei’s comment, My Hero Academia had only been in publication for four years and the first movie was about to be released, leading to a sudden surge in the franchise’s popularity. Therefore, the initial prediction turned out to be incorrect.
After a decade of publication, the manga’s storyline has continued without addressing this particular plot point. While the reason for Kohei’s decision to overlook it remains unknown, Occam’s razor suggests that it simply became irrelevant. The story of My Hero Academia continued to captivate readers without delving into Deku’s complicated relationship with his father, allowing for his character development to progress smoothly.
Deku and All Might: A Father-Son Bonding Through Heroism
Despite the potential disappointment of Hisashi’s absence, the story has not been negatively impacted. Deku’s character development remains strong as he becomes a courageous and principled protagonist who fearlessly stands up against Shigaraki.
His peers and classmates, as well as All Might, have played a crucial role in his development. All Might, acting as a father figure, transitioned from being a role model to a mentor for Deku, fulfilling all the necessary requirements of fatherhood.
Despite Deku’s lack of a Quirk, All Might remains dedicated to his success and regularly offers lessons and words of encouragement. He has unwavering faith in the young hero, as shown by his decision to pass down the powerful All For One ability.
Hisashi’s presence as a paternal figure is not necessary since All Might fulfills that role in all the important aspects. It doesn’t get any more heroic than that.
Although My Hero Academia may have concluded in manga format, fans can rest assured that the franchise will continue.
