In the aftermath of last week’s devastating fires in Los Angeles, the entertainment industry is still reeling from production halts impacting several well-known series. This update sheds light on which shows continue to feel the effects of the disaster.
The wildfires, driven by fierce winds, prompted a shutdown of various popular productions, including major titles such as Hacks, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, NCIS, Suits LA, Grey’s Anatomy, and Doctor Odyssey. The fires have wreaked havoc across tens of thousands of acres, triggering over 180,000 evacuations and destroying numerous homes in the region, including those belonging to celebrities like Mandy Moore, Billy Crystal, Cary Elwes, and Mel Gibson.
While many shows have resumed filming, there remain a few noteworthy productions that fans might want to keep an eye on.
Continuing Production Delays: Grey’s Anatomy and Doctor Odyssey
Several 20th Television series have yet to resume production, notably the long-running Grey’s Anatomy and the relatively new hit, Doctor Odyssey. In contrast, fans of other series can breathe a sigh of relief as filming has recommenced for many shows.
According to a report from Deadline, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage has not yet restarted filming but is expected to resume on Wednesday. Productions from Warner Bros. Television, such as Abbott Elementary, All American, and the new medical drama The Pitt, have successfully returned to set.
Furthermore, several series under Universal Studio Group have also kicked off production again after the temporary closure of the Universal lower lot. Titles like Loot, Suits LA, Ted, Happy’s Place, and Hacks are back in business. It’s worth noting that Hacks has faced significant setbacks, particularly due to the destruction of the iconic Altadena Mansion used as the residence for Deborah Vance, which was lost in the Eaton fire. More details on this incident may be found in the Hollywood Reporter.
Additionally, productions like Sony’s S.W.A.T. and Spider-Noir are moving forward, as well as CBS Studios lines, which include NCIS, NCIS: Origins, The Neighborhood, and Poppa’s House.
As firefighters continue their containment efforts, significant progress has been reported over the past week. However, the Palisades and Eaton fires are still active, and weather forecasts predict stronger winds ahead, raising concerns about possible fire spread. The community remains hopeful for favorable conditions to prevent further damages.
