Korean internet users are currently discussing the center position of UNIS, and there is speculation amongst many as to whether Elisia holds that position.
In January 2024, Elisia became the first Filipina to win first place on a Korean survival show, making history. She earned her spot in the debut line-up before the finale of “Universe Ticket”by achieving the “P”ranking and receiving a Prism ticket, guaranteeing her place in the group.
Ever since then, the group has been known as UNIS. However, the question remains: who is the center?
Is Elisia the Main Hub of UNIS?
In April 2024, multiple discussions regarding Elisia’s role in the group were posted on online community forums in South Korea.
Korean netizens have been questioning the reason behind Elisia not receiving center treatment, even though she ranked first on “Universe Ticket.”It was observed that in group photos, Seowon or Kotoko are always positioned in the center, while Filipino members Elisia and Gehlee Dangca are consistently placed on opposite sides.
There is no official photo of the group where Elisia is positioned in the center. If it is neither Seowon nor Kotoko, Nana is often chosen for the spot. Fans have observed that during their time on “Universe Ticket,”Nana and Kotoko were the top choices of the producer.
Despite being a confident vocalist, Seowon and Nana had more lines than Elisia on the “WE UNIS”album. Furthermore, Seowon was responsible for all the ad-libs, resulting in Elisia ranking third among the eight members in terms of overall contribution to the album.
Korean Netizens Debate Whether Elisia Should Be the Focal Point of UNIS
Despite receiving mixed reactions, the post was still seen by many.
Although there was consensus that Elisia would be suited for the center position, it was acknowledged that it is a challenging role and should not be awarded solely based on winning first place. Rather, it should be bestowed upon the individual who is most capable of managing the responsibilities of being in the center.
It was questioned by some if being in first place guaranteed them more center time and lines. There were observations made that even though Jeon Somi and Kang Daniel, who were the top rankings in their “Produce”seasons and served as the centers of I.O.I and Wanna One, often received less parts compared to their group members. It was also pointed out that those who did not rank first are now enjoying more successful careers.
It was also mentioned by individuals that as long as Elisia is not bothered, the community should not be bothered either.
