Is Finn from Wistoria: Wand and Sword the Same Character as Loki Familia’s Captain in DanMachi? Full Explanation

While Finn’s identity in Wistoria: Wand and Sword remains an intriguing enigma, various facets of his character prompt engaging speculation. One such point of interest is whether he is, in fact, the captain of the Loki Familia from DanMachi.

Clearly, Finn from Wistoria: Wand and Sword bears a striking resemblance to Finn Deimne from DanMachi. However, fans should note that they are distinct characters. Fujino Omori, the creator, often employs character designs and names from his fantasy light novel series to represent new characters in his projects.

Reasons Why Finn from Wistoria: Wand and Sword Isn’t the Same as Loki Familia’s Captain in DanMachi

Despite the apparent visual similarity between Finn from Wistoria: Wand and Sword and the Captain of the Loki Familia, Finn Deimne from DanMachi, these characters differ significantly.

In Wistoria: Wand and Sword, Finn’s true name is Invess, which he despises being called. According to the manga, he serves as a dungeon guide and hails from the Finn Tribe, a group that lacks magical abilities but compensates with extensive knowledge of dungeons accumulated over generations.

The Finn Tribe has been contracted with the Tower since the reign of the Mage Queen to assist with dungeon exploration. Their guidance is crucial for any expedition venturing deep into the labyrinths. In the narrative, Aaron Masterias Oldking, with the help of Finn/Invess, descends to the 49th floor of the dungeon.

Beyond his exceptional skills in dungeon navigation, Finn oversees the “Swords,”individuals who excel in swordsmanship but cannot utilize magic. This is why he has a significant interest in Will Serfort, who demonstrates exceptional proficiency with swords. Throughout the manga, Finn often takes on a mentor-like role for Will.

Although Finn claims to be seven years old, he is implied to be over 500 years old. The manga suggests that Finn received Will Serfort from Mercedes, the Mage Queen and founder of the Magia Vander, 500 years ago to unify the Wand and the Sword.

However, author Fujino Omori has not clarified Finn’s connection to Mercedes. Regardless, there are many ambiguous elements surrounding Finn from Wistoria: Wand and Sword.

In contrast, Finn Deimne from DanMachi serves as the captain of the Loki Familia. While he appears youthful, Deimne is over 40 years old in the series and is known for his keen analytical skills and situational judgment.

Finn Deimne avoids unnecessary risks that could jeopardize his Familia and genuinely cares about their well-being. He actively tracks the progress of his members and maintains a friendly rapport with other Familias, including the Hestia Familia. Additionally, he demonstrates strong leadership qualities.

Unlike Finn from Fujino Omori’s works, Finn Deimne originates from a small mountain village. As a member of the Pallum race, he experienced a difficult childhood but ultimately overcame his challenges to join the Loki Familia. He played a crucial role in recruiting Riveria and Gareth, subsequently rising to prominence as one of Orario’s mightiest adventurers.

As illustrated, Finn Deimne has a remarkably different backstory compared to Finn from Wistoria: Wand and Sword. This distinction aligns with Fujino Omori’s practice of reusing character names and designs from his light novel series in new manga projects.

For instance, the author introduced Lefiya Filvis from the Loki Familia and Filvis Challia from the Dionysus Familia in episodes 5 and 6 of the Wistoria: Wand and Sword anime as part of the Tower’s Elf Faction. This trend is characteristic of Omori, as seen with Finn as well.
