The K-pop community was filled with excitement on May 24th when NewJeans finally released their highly-anticipated album and the music video for their single “How Sweet.”

Shortly after the release of the song, a video was uploaded online which featured a portion of “How Sweet”and also included segments from two other songs, claiming that the song was plagiarized.

The video sparked a discussion among netizens as it highlighted similarities between Midnight Fusic’s “Summer Love”and Karencitta’s “F.U.I.L.Y.”The creator of the video also brought up Min Hee Jin’s past accusations of plagiarism against groups like ILLIT, adding to the ongoing controversy.

The rapid appearance of the video following NewJeans’ debut aroused doubts among internet users, as numerous individuals accused HYBE of deliberately instigating the plagiarism allegations in order to impede the group’s return. Various comments on social media expressed skepticism.

Upon further examination, fans couldn’t help but notice the suspicious nature of the YouTube account responsible for posting the video titled “tearnot.”Its sole focus on exposing NewJeans’ alleged plagiarism raised questions and the account’s name, bearing a striking resemblance to LE SSERAFIM’s fandom name “FearNot,”only added to the intrigue surrounding the ongoing drama.
