It was revealed by IVE Rei, who had been rumored to be the daughter of a prominent conglomerate in Japan, that her family background was true.
On May 6, the idol made an appearance as a guest on the YouTube channel “My Neighborhood Friend Kangnami”alongside MC Kangnam and fellow Japanese idol Rei for a Korean language battle.
During their conversation, Rei also responded to the rumor that she came from a wealthy family, which had been sparked by Kangnam’s earlier remark.
There were speculations that IVE Rei was wealthy because of her family name, but the idol has clarified the rumor.
In March, Kangnam and Rei initially encountered each other through Rei’s personal YouTube channel, “Follow Rei,”as reported earlier.
After learning that Rei was from Nagoya, Kangnam quickly jumped to the conclusion that she came from a wealthy family, prompting him to ask which city in Japan she hailed from.
Furthermore, he asserted that due to her surname, Naoi, which is considered rare in Japan, she likely belongs to the elite class. In Japan, families with uncommon last names are often descendants of nobility, as these names were traditionally bestowed by the Emperor.
Upon viewing the video, Japanese fans also concurred with this belief, stating that residents of Nagoya were predominantly families of CEOs and business owners.
It can be deduced from the types of cars, house, and even the school that Rei attended that she was wealthy, a fact that was acknowledged by her devoted vlog followers.
Rei briefly alludes to the speculation that she comes from an affluent family.
During their recent reunion, Kangnam once again inquired about Rei’s last name. When Rei responded with “Naoi,”she expressed her frustration.
“I’m Rei, Naoi. You kept saying that it was a rich family name.”
Baffled, Kangnam cleared things up:
“Why is that going around so much? [Joked about her being rich and it’s spreading like wildfire in reels]. Why are there so many reels, I was joking around. But my friends ask me, ‘Is Rei rich?’ I don’t know either.”
Having expressed all of this, he managed to make Rei burst into laughter with his serious question:
“So, are you rich?”
Giving a brief explanation of the rumor, Rei answered:
“I’m working diligently right now.”
Last month on the 29th, IVE, the group to which Rei is a member, achieved the impressive accomplishment of reaching 3rd place on the “Worldwide iTunes Album Chart”with the release of their second EP album, “IVE SWITCH.”
