As Kohei Horikoshi’s original manga series, My Hero Academia, returns from a break this week, fans are eagerly anticipating the fate of the final war. Despite the apparent defeat of Tomura Shigaraki and All For One, it remains uncertain if the battle has truly come to an end throughout Japan.
In addition, the fact that protagonist Izuku “Deku”Midoriya is currently without a Quirk and the uncertainty surrounding his last conversation with Shigaraki are adding to the skepticism surrounding the situation. While it is not necessary for the final battle in My Hero Academia to result in Deku obtaining a Quirk, the uncertainty surrounding his and Shigaraki’s last encounter is causing concern among fans.
Similarly, fans are concerned that the last battle of My Hero Academia will follow one of the most widely disliked clichés in shonen anime and manga in recent years. Despite the lack of evidence from the current information, there is still a chance that Horikoshi may take this direction.
My Hero Academia’s Final Battle May Conclude with a Demon Slayer-Inspired Twist
According to current information, it appears that the final war in My Hero Academia has come to an end. The remaining leaders on the villains’ side were All For One and Tomura Shigaraki, and their deaths have been confirmed in the latest issue. While there may be some remaining forces still fighting, they seem to be disorganized and pose no significant threat. In the most recent issue, Shigaraki said his farewells to Deku and, through him, to Spinner.
Furthermore, All For One’s encounter with his brother Yoichi Shigaraki and the other vestiges of the One For All Quirk can be seen as a sort of death resolution scene. The finality of these interactions suggests that the series’ ultimate battle has truly come to an end, providing fans with a sense of closure.
In light of this, Horikoshi could potentially push My Hero Academia’s final battle even further by incorporating a controversial decision. A recurring trend in anime and manga has been for the main antagonist to possess the body of the protagonist or another character as a final resort to stay alive. This possibility was hinted at in the latest chapter of the series, where All For One attempted to take over Deku’s body or that of anyone else in close proximity.
Despite the intervention of others, Deku and All For One/Shigaraki were still able to make contact when the former’s final punch landed. This allowed them to have a conversation, but it also served as the necessary setup for the All For One Quirk to either give or take a Quirk forcibly.
Ultimately, although fans may believe Deku is currently Quirkless, it is possible that All For One was able to transfer his Quirk and consciousness into Deku’s body without the boy’s knowledge. This could be attributed to Deku’s intense focus on his conversation with Shigaraki, which aligns with his primary objective of saving Shigaraki.
To put it differently, it is understandable that Deku would be preoccupied with this farewell and not notice the transfer of Quirk after realizing he was unable to save the person. Despite this, it is unlikely that this would align with Horikoshi’s writing style, especially considering the other foreshadowed events in the series. As a result, it appears highly likely that the final battle in My Hero Academia has concluded and the overall series is quickly approaching its conclusion.
