NewJeans Launches “jeanzforfree”SNS Account Amid Transition
On November 14, NewJeans, comprising members Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein, announced the creation of a new social media account titled “jeanzforfree.”This intriguing name carries significant implications, though it remains unclear if this account is officially managed by the group. Evidence from social media posts by acquaintances of NewJeans hints at its legitimacy.
Symbolism and Support from Collaborators
Notable endorsements from industry professionals have emerged, bolstering the authenticity of the “jeanzforfree”account. For instance, director Lee Young-eum, who helmed NewJeans’ “Bubblegum”music video, tagged the account in a recent post featuring a rabbit image. This imagery is particularly resonant as rabbits symbolize the group. Additionally, director Shin Dong-geul, known for his work on tracks like “Super Shy,””Hype Boy,”and “Cookie,”also referenced the account in a post adorned with a pink flower image.

Community Support Initiatives
The debut post on their new account highlights the group’s commitment to social responsibility. It details a list of meal donations, including food, coffee, and heat packs, aimed at supporting impeachment protesters in Yeouido, South Korea. NewJeans extended an invitation to all individuals carrying light sticks—regardless of their preferred artist—to come and enjoy the meals prepared.
Currently in Japan for scheduled activities, the members shared an Instagram story expressing heartfelt wishes for their supporters: “Stay warm, don’t catch a cold, and enjoy the meals we’ve prepared. Korea is pretty cold right now, so we wanted to make sure you could eat something warm. We see what you’re doing together, and we’re cheering for you. We hope this helps in some way, so please take care of yourselves and stay strong.”
Navigating Changes Within the Group
This latest development follows an important announcement made by NewJeans during an emergency press conference held on October 28 at the Space Share Samsung Center in Gangnam, Seoul. At this event, the group disclosed the termination of their exclusive contract with their agency, ADOR. They expressed their intent to pursue independent activities, particularly alongside former ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin.
In response to a lawsuit filed by ADOR on November 6, aiming to affirm the validity of the group’s exclusive contracts, NewJeans released a statement emphasizing their stance.
ADOR has failed to present substantial evidence in its position statement that there was no breach of contract. Instead, they repeatedly claim that the contract cannot be terminated until their investment is recouped. However, we have already returned profits exceeding the investments made by ADOR and HYBE. Despite this, HYBE has attempted to defame us, devalue our worth through smear campaigns and reverse virals, while ADOR, under new management, has passively allowed this to happen.
Once again, let us make this clear: as of November 29, 2024, we are no longer under ADOR. ADOR has no right to interfere with or involve itself in our activities moving forward.
NewJeans’ proactive approach to social engagement and their bold steps towards independence mark a transformative era for the group and their fans.
