Is Nobara Dead in Jujutsu Kaisen? Understanding Her Fate

Despite being one of the main characters in Jujutsu Kaisen, Nobara’s fate remained unclear for a significant period, causing fans to question if she had met her demise.

Early on in Jujutsu Kaisen, Nobara Kugisaki was introduced as a first-year student. Hailing from a family of jujutsu practitioners, she shared a classroom with Yuji and Megumi. She is also among the select few sorcerers who have witnessed the power of the elusive Black Flash.

Despite her limited role in the series, Nobara’s involvement only extends until the Shibuya Incident Arc. Alongside other sorcerers, she journeyed to Shibuya and confronted Mahito during this arc. Despite being defeated by the curse, her fate remained uncertain for a considerable amount of time.

Nobara stands out in Jujutsu Kaisen due to her enigmatic situation, as the manga is known for not holding back on revealing significant character deaths. This lack of clarity has led to numerous speculations about her potential revival until her destiny is ultimately unveiled in Chapter 265.

During the Shibuya Incident, Mahito created a duplicate of himself. While the real Mahito was engaged in a battle with Yuji, his clone pursued Nobara, resulting in a thrilling confrontation. The curse quickly realized that the young sorcerer was a formidable opponent.

Nobara’s Resonance rendered Mahito immobile, allowing Yuji to attack the curse without interruption. Despite this, Mahito swiftly altered his strategy and summoned a clone to join the original, prompting Nobara to pursue them.

This resulted in a shocking moment in which the real Mahito touched one side of her face, causing it to explode and her to collapse. Despite seeing her disfigured face afterwards, her death remained unconfirmed, even after Yuji asked Megumi about her well-being.

In Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 265, it is finally confirmed that she did not survive in Shibuya. As Yuji reflects on those who have influenced his perspective on a person’s purpose in life, he fondly recalls his late loved ones, such as his grandfather, Junpei, Nanami, Gojo, Choso, and Nobara.

Despite her brief appearance in Jujutsu Kaisen, Nobara’s death serves as a crucial lesson for Yuji. He believed that fulfilling his role in life and saving as many people as he could would result in a good death before the events unfolded.

Despite what happened to Nobara, he was forced to alter his perspective. Despite being the same age as him, she did not have enough time to fulfill her purpose. Nevertheless, this does not diminish the value of her life and how precious it was.

In addition, her destiny serves as a driving force for his mission to eliminate curses from the world. His intense anger and thirst for revenge against Mahito were also fueled by this. Above all, her loss has only strengthened his resolve to protect Megumi at any cost.

Despite the knowledge that Sukuna is a notorious mass murderer and pure evil, Yuji still chooses to offer sparing his life and becoming his vessel in order to rid Megumi’s body of the ancient sorcerer.

Despite the speculation of many fans, Nobara will not be returning to the story. However, the confirmation of her death is enough closure. At this point, her comeback would serve no purpose. It is more fitting for her to serve as motivation for Yuji instead.
