Despite our anticipation for Aqua and Ruby’s diligent efforts to yield results, Chapter 158 had an unexpected twist in store. We witness Ruby completing the B-Komachi tour’s final stage in Miyazaki, celebrated with great fanfare.

In the beginning of Chapter 158 in Oshi no Ko, Akane visits Ruby and they engage in a conversation about Kana’s potential as an idol. Akane is confident that Kana will excel as a star, but Ruby has her own suspicions that Akane may have a new boyfriend to celebrate Christmas with.

The panels quickly shift their focus to Nino, the former member of B-Komachi, making all of the previous events seem insignificant. In Oshi no Ko Chapter 158, titled ‘Jewel,’ a dark turn takes place, triggering the audience’s trauma. On Christmas Day, the final performance in Miyazaki, Ruby’s idol career with B-Komachi begins. Throughout the chapter, Ruby’s stage presence is mesmerizing, and she shines brightly as an idol.

Nino, on the other hand, silently stands in the audience, observing her performance. She is a devoted fan of Hoshino Ai, firmly believing that her passing only added to the eternal and unparalleled brilliance of Ai.

Witnessing Ai’s daughter outshine her on stage causes something within her to break. She is consumed with hatred and hopelessness as she struggles to comprehend how to respond. The once perfect image of Ai, the deity of her heart and the focus of her adoration, begins to crumble before her eyes.

Nino is convinced that she has found a solution to her problems by taking care of Ruby and ensuring that Ai remains the “best”forever. She confides in Hikaru, unaware that he harbors regret over their past and believes that they should confess to the police for a chance at a lighter punishment and forgiveness.

Nino takes it upon herself to put her plan into action. We witness Ruby confidently making her way to the door, only to be met with a fatal stab to her abdomen, mirroring what happened to Ai. The Chapter concludes with this deadly blow.

Sarina and Goro

Given the story’s exploration of the dark side of the idol world through Ai and later, Ruby, Kana, and the others, it is improbable that Ruby will meet her demise in Oshi no Ko. There seems to be no reason for her to be targeted, except for one possibility.

Despite being the reincarnation of Dr. Goro, Aqua has been weighted down by a heavy burden of regrets, resulting in a complete transformation of his personality. Unfortunately, he was unable to save Ai on two separate occasions, leaving him feeling helpless as she was stabbed.

It is important to keep in mind that Aqua was a doctor, trained in the medical field. However, as his character in Aqua has not yet achieved the same level of integration as second-life characters, he has been unable to fully utilize his medical knowledge.

Despite the reason for Ruby being stabbed being different this time, it presents Aqua with the opportunity to utilize his skills and finally release the regrets he has been holding onto for decades. In a sense, by saving Ruby, he is also saving Ai.

This will also aid in bridging the gap between Ruby’s previous life as a patient (Sarina) and his current role as a doctor. Therefore, despite the fear induced by Chapter 158, we can expect to feel relieved in the near future.
