Despite major editing flaws, people are still questioning if Selling The O.C. is a scripted TV show. However, one star has clarified the truth surrounding the show.
Viewers of their favorite reality TV shows often question whether the show is authentic or scripted.
Despite Jason Oppenheim clarifying that Selling Sunset is unscripted, he did acknowledge the presence of staged moments in the show. This was confirmed by fans who noticed a significant editing mistake in one of the scenes.
Despite this, it is still unclear whether Selling The O.C., the show’s spinoff, adheres to the same format.
Just like Selling Sunset, there have been numerous occasions where viewers have accused The O.C. of having staged scenes.
The Season 2 staged conversation between Kayla and Sean remains the most notorious example. While watching the chat, viewers couldn’t help but notice a drink that seemed to mysteriously vanish and reappear multiple times while the stars conversed.
@thetab_ Hate it when drinks disappear then reappear mid conversation! ! #sellingOC #editingerror #fyp
In March 2024, Alex Hall, a member of the original cast, responded to the scripted question with her own answer.
During an interview, she clarified that there is no script for the show. They do not provide lines for the participants to say. However, they are aware of what will attract viewers, and drama is a popular selling point.
Despite being on a TV show, she is still obligated to spend time with her co-stars whom she does not get along with, unlike in real life where she could simply avoid them.
With the exception of staged scenes, the cast consists of authentic real estate agents who are employed by the Oppenheim group.
