Spectre Divide has recently been released on PC as a free-to-play game, offering a strategic shooting experience similar to CS: GO and Valorant. At the moment, it is only accessible on PC and, like other games in its genre, demands quick reflexes and accurate aiming. However, is controller compatibility included in Spectre Divide?
Is There Controller Support for Spectre Divide?
Unfortunately, Spectre Divide does not offer controller support on PC.
Including controller support in a first-person competitive game that is not available on multiple platforms would result in numerous balancing challenges. This would give an unfair advantage to keyboard and mouse players over those using controllers. The introduction of aim-assist for controller users would also create similar balancing problems.
With its focus on PC gaming, it is logical that this title is exclusively available for computers. The only solution to this would be to have separate matchmaking for players using controllers, a common practice in many other competitive multiplayer games. XDefiant has also implemented input-based matchmaking, allowing PC players to still use controllers and be matched with others using controllers.
The lack of controller support on PC is not an issue in more informal games like Call of Duty, as keyboard and mouse players can still play with those using controllers. However, this is not the case for titles like Valorant, which is similar to Spectre Divide, as it does not offer controller support on PC. This feature is only available on the console versions, which is understandable.
In the future, the developers may include support for controllers and implement separate matchmaking for those who use them. However, for the time being, Spectre Divide is only available for keyboard and mouse users.
Spectre Divide’s sponsors system adds a unique twist to traditional classes, and we are eagerly anticipating the continued support from the developers even after the addition of ranked matchmaking.
