Is Spy x Family Code: White Movie Canon? Explained

The release of Spy x Family Code: White on December 22, 2023 marked a major success for the film, with its announcement of collaborations with numerous other media projects. The movie featured a plotline that deviated from the main storyline of the series, as Loid took it upon himself to teach Anya the art of cooking.

Although the Spy x Family Code: White movie was produced by the manga’s author, Tatsuya Endo, it is not considered canon since it did not adapt a story from the source material, the manga series. However, it can still be seen as part of the same lore as the original series, but not the main one.

In the month of its release, the film also revealed a partnership with the spy movie Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One. In December 2023, just before its release, special illustrations featuring Anya and Bond were unveiled as part of a collaboration with the animated film Wish.

Upon being cautioned by Handler about the possibility of being transferred from ‘Operation Strix,’ Loid Forger must come up with a strategy to enhance the mission, leading to the need for Anya Forger to acquire additional Stella Stars. Luckily, an opening presents itself in the form of a cooking contest at Anya’s school, and with some investigation, Loid discovers that the judge has a fondness for Meremere, a type of dessert.

The Forgers found themselves in yet another crisis while visiting the city of Frigis to try a local specialty dessert. Anya accidentally stumbled upon a treasure, a bar of chocolate containing a hidden microchip capable of starting a war. Without knowing its true contents, one of the Forgers ate the chocolate.

The primary antagonists of this series are currently pursuing Anya in order to reclaim the chip from her. As responsible guardians, Yor and Loid set out to confront the villains and protect Anya with all their resources. Despite their efforts, they were unable to reclaim the Meremere or develop a recipe for the desert. However, the cooking competition was ultimately postponed, providing the Forgers with another chance to visit Frigis in the future and obtain the desert.
