Solo Leveling Ragnarok serves as the sequel to the immensely popular Solo Leveling series. Sung Jinwoo is widely regarded as one of the most memorable manhwa characters to have emerged in the past decade. As the central figure in both the Solo Leveling light novels and manhwa, which have also been adapted into an anime, his legacy is undeniable.
Although Sung Jinwoo has yet to appear in Solo Leveling Ragnarok, the narrative centers around his son, Sung Suho, who has stepped into his father’s shoes as the protector of Earth. Meanwhile, Sung Jinwoo is busy defending the planet from the outerversal gods, who currently serve as the primary antagonists. Dialogue in the manga reveals that Sung Jinwoo is alive and engaged in a war in space.

Solo Leveling Ragnarok: The Status of Sung Jinwoo
Sung Jinwoo originally took on the role of the main protagonist and later emerged as Earth’s defender in the groundbreaking Solo Leveling series. By the series’ conclusion, he had ascended to the rank of a monarch and had achieved immortality. Early chapters of Solo Leveling Ragnarok indicate that Sung Suho, the new lead and son of Sung Jinwoo, has been living with both parents absent.
As the plot unfolds, Beru makes his return to Earth, reportedly on the orders of Sung Jinwoo, to train Suho and prepare him to become Earth’s defender. Beru elaborates on how Sung Jinwoo, having accepted his role as the planet’s sole defender, ventured into space to thwart the invasion of the Itarim race, the current villains of the story.
The Itarim race is significant as it is the lineage from which the “Absolute One”originated. Following the demise of the Absolute One and Sung Jinwoo‘s elevation to the Shadow Monarch’s throne, the Itarim race began their incursion into Earth, seeking its rich mana resources.
According to the latest translated chapters, Sung Jinwoo is positioned as the sole force resisting the Itarim invasion and is reportedly in space alongside his formidable army.
While Sung Jinwoo‘s role has been hinted at and somewhat established, Chae Hae-In is still unaccounted for, with her whereabouts being a mystery even to Sung Jinwoo‘s shadows. It remains a possibility that she may reappear later in the story as an adversary, having been potentially influenced by the Itarim.
Final Thoughts
As of now, Sung Jinwoo has not made a full-fledged appearance in Solo Leveling Ragnarok, except in flashbacks. Since the Solo Leveling Ragnarok light novels are still being translated, the actual status of Sung Jinwoo remains unverified. However, the ongoing narrative suggests that he is indeed alive and active in space.
