Despite its success as the moneymaker of Weekly Shonen Jump, Jujutsu Kaisen will soon come to an end. The series’ creator, Gege Akutami, has made an official announcement, leaving little room for doubt. While this news may be disappointing, it begs the question: what does the impending end of JJK signify?
The series, encompassing both manga and anime, has attracted a vast global fan base, transcending language barriers and even appealing to non-anime viewers. The climax will feature the final showdown between Yuji and Sukuna, bringing the story to a close.
1. Is the Jujutsu Kaisen Anime Series Really Coming to an End Soon?
The epic confrontation in Chapter 266 of the OP battle has just commenced, as Megumi and Yuji unite forces to confront the ruthless Ryomen Sukuna, also known as the King of Curses. However, our excitement was slightly dampened by the speculation that Jujutsu Kaisen was coming to an end.

The final chapter of the manga, Chapter 271, will be published in the 44th issue of Shonen Jump magazine on September 30, 2024. Despite the long wait, creator Gege assures fans that the concluding episode will be worth it, stating, “I am dedicated to creating an ending that will satisfy the many fans who have supported ‘Jujutsu Kaisen’. I ask for your patience and understanding.”
Therefore, in just a matter of weeks, we will discover the outcome of the crucial clash between Ryomen Sukuna and Yuji Itadori. However, the concern remains as to whether Gege will be able to neatly tie up all the loose ends. We can only hope (although the length of the previous chapters makes it seem unlikely).
2. What to expect from the conclusion of JJK
Despite having a set D-Day in sight, it is unlikely that all the lingering questions we readers have had (and still do) will be fully resolved within the next 5 chapters. The gradual development of characters, a staple in the WSJ magazine series, may not be present for JJK.
The primary focus of character development and interactions in the recent chapters has been between Yuji and Sukuna, and more recently with Megumi. Ever since Yuji boldly declared “Sukuna, I can kill you”at the end of chapter 265, it is likely that Sukuna’s strength is dwindling.
Despite being the most charismatic and fascinating character in the entire series, Gojo Satoru’s situation remains an unscratched itch. As we near the end of the manga with only a few chapters left, it seems unlikely that his uncertain situation as of chapter 266 will be resolved and he will make a return.
The reference to Gojo was first made in Chapter 266, in which Sukuna struggled to use Hollow Wicker Basket as a result of the residual effects of Gojo’s domain. This is expected to be the final mention of Gojo in the series, which will undoubtedly disappoint countless fans around the globe.
The final battle between Yuji and Sukuna is the reason why the hype has been building throughout the series. This highly anticipated fight will serve as the climax of the manga and is expected to span a significant number of panels in the upcoming 5 chapters. Any less would be a major disappointment.
Given this situation, numerous characters will be left without a satisfactory conclusion and countless interactions will remain unfinished. Furthermore, there are also characters who have been abandoned halfway (let’s be real, forgotten). Therefore, having high hopes for Jujutsu Kaisen to have a flawless ending is unrealistic.
Despite this, Jujutsu Kaisen has made a lasting impact and will be remembered for years to come. It has already inspired numerous manga and anime adaptations, as well as fan fiction. Similar to other acclaimed series such as Naruto and Dragon Ball Z, it has solidified its place as one of the top serialized Shonen manga.
About Jujutsu Kaisen
Jujutsu Kaisen, also referred to as Sorcery Fight, is a manga series written and illustrated by Gege Akutami from Japan. It has been serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump since March 2018.
A MAPPA-produced anime television series premiered in October 2020.
The focus of the story is on Yuuji Itadori, a high-school student who is surprisingly physically fit despite his dislike for sports. Yuuji’s introduction to the realm of sorcery occurs when he ingests a potent talisman in order to shield his friends from its harmful effects.
Realizing that Yuuji was not greatly affected by the curse, Satoru makes the decision to task him with a quest to save the world.
