Increased drama leads to heightened emotions, with Anxiety attempting to take control. However, is there a post-credits scene in Inside Out 2?
As a teenager, navigating through life can be difficult, but the upcoming sequel to Disney Pixar’s Inside Out, aptly titled Inside Out 2, is finally giving a platform to the younger generation who struggle to understand and express their emotions.
In our four-star review, we praised the film by saying: “Disney is back on top with this undeniable success of a sequel. It may even be the studio’s best film in years. Believe me… you’ll never want to experience Anxiety more.”
Despite the 2015 original already being hailed as one of the top animated films of the decade, fans are undoubtedly anticipating staying in their cinema seats for the possibility of an after-credits scene in Inside Out 2. However, it should be noted that the following information may contain spoilers.
Is There A Post-Credits Scene In Inside Out 2?
Indeed, there is a post-credits scene in Inside Out 2.
After forcefully removing Joy, Sadness, Anger, Disgust, and Fear from Riley’s control room, Anxiety takes charge and sets out to implement her own strategy – altering Riley’s entire identity in order to make her new high school friends.
Riley is separated from her two friends and experiences immense pressure to perform well at the scrimmage. This is because, according to others, the high school coach uses the scrimmage to determine who makes the team.
Anxiety drives Riley to constantly doubt her abilities, causing her to become fixated on surpassing the current record for goals. As a result, she unintentionally injures another player and experiences a panic attack when she is sent to the penalty box.
Thankfully, Joy successfully leads the gang back to the control center and teaches them a valuable lesson – Riley must develop her own sense of self rather than rely on the emotions controlling her. She reconciles with her two middle school friends and later discovers that she has made the high school ice hockey team, the Firehawks.
Meanwhile, Joy discovers a method to calm Anxiety during moments of panic, and Embarrassment begins to break out of his shell.
What Is Revealed in the Post-Credits Scene?
In the post-credits scene, we delve into the additional emotions experienced by Riley’s parents upon her return from her ice hockey camp trip.
As the credits for Inside Out 2 begin to play, Riley is shown arriving back from camp. Her mother inquires about her experience and the emotions within Riley begin to argue over how much of the events to share. Eventually, Ennui prevails and Riley simply responds with a nonchalant “it was fine.”
Next, we turn our attention to mom’s feelings, as she is in disbelief that Riley has been missing for a full three days and has no further explanation. Mom’s Anxiety makes its debut, suggesting that Riley’s absence could be due to her involvement in a gang. The rest of the emotions warmly welcome her return and attempt to calm her down.
Similarly to what we witnessed in the original film, the father’s emotions appear to be much more relaxed. Although hesitant to get involved, he agrees to adhere to the rules in order to avoid upsetting the mother and causing any conflicts.
Don’t miss Inside Out 2, which hits theaters on June 14. Also, be sure to keep an eye out for other exciting releases from Disney, such as Moana 2, Frozen 3, and Mufasa: The Lion King.
