Is Verdansk Returning to Warzone?

After much anticipation and speculation, Raven Software has officially announced that the original Warzone map, Verdansk, will be making a comeback in Black Ops 6 after years of fan requests.

The player base quickly fell in love with Verdansk, the original map in the popular Call of Duty battle royale hit.

In December 2021, after 18 months since its launch, Verdansk was replaced by Caldera. However, despite players’ increasing demands for a new map, Caldera was unable to match the success of its predecessor.

Since then, players from all over have been asking for the return of Verdansk, eager to revisit their beloved spots and preferred landing locations. However, it always appeared to be an unattainable possibility – unless one were to play Warzone Mobile, which offers Verdansk as a playable map.

Finally, there is a glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel.

Does Verdansk have a release date?

Although there is no official release date for Verdansk in Black Ops 6, Activision has announced that Verdansk will make a comeback in Call of Duty during Spring 2025.

Despite initial rumors that Black Ops 6 would release with Verdansk as its main battle royale setting, a recent leak on June 27th has indicated that the popular map will instead be introduced in the middle of the game’s lifespan.

In August, concerns grew when gamers were given a preview of the upcoming Warzone map, Area 99. There were rumors among players that Verdansk would not make a comeback, as Treyarch had been primarily working on creating a new map.

The delay in the leak turned out to be true, however, players can now rest assured that the iconic map will make a comeback.

Reflecting on past decisions, Activision has recently updated Warzone maps such as Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep to give them a more modern feel. It is currently unclear if they will also make changes to Verdansk, or if it will be a complete remaster featuring all of the beloved points of interest from the original.
