Is Will Youn Yuh-jung Dropping Out of Season 3 of “Pachinko”?

The Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul was the setting for the press conference of “Pachinko 2″by Apple TV+ on August 23. Youn Yuh-jung, Lee Min-ho, Kim Min-ha, Jung Eun-chae, and Kim Sung-kyu all attended the event, sharing their personal experiences and anecdotes about the project.

In the second season, Youn Yuh-jung played the role of “Sunja”, an elderly woman who has become well-established in a foreign country.

Despite having limited screen time, Youn Yuh-jung described her decision to participate in the film by stating, “As an actor, it is my duty to convey imagination through my performance. In fact, I am drawn to smaller roles as they allow me to fully immerse myself in the character without being overwhelmed. I prefer taking on smaller roles and do not have the capacity to take on larger ones.”

Youn Yuh-jung expressed her frustration with the abundance of Japanese lines in Season 2, stating, “I even joked that I wouldn’t return for Season 3 if I had to speak Japanese again. I had to memorize them like multiplication tables, which was a difficult task.”

At the same time, “Pachinko”narrates a tale that commences with a forbidden romance and unravels through Korea, Japan and the United States, capturing unforgettable accounts of conflict and harmony, affection and division, success and verdict. The second season begins in 1945 Osaka, seven years after the first season, and continues to follow “Sunja”(portrayed by Kim Min-ha) as she struggles to safeguard her family amidst the impending threat of World War II. Viewers can catch new episodes every Friday on Apple TV+ from August 23 until October 11.
