YouTube sensation IShowSpeed has achieved the impressive title of the most popular English streamer of all time, primarily due to his engaging IRL streams in Southeast Asia.
IShowSpeed commenced his Southeast Asia tour in early September 2024, starting with a visit to Thailand.
After traversing through four other countries, he arrived in Indonesia, where his livestream skyrocketed to over 1,000,000 concurrent viewers, leading him to tear up with emotion.
According to the viewer-tracking site Streams Charts, IShowSpeed not only shattered his personal viewership record during the Indonesian stream, but he also secured his place as the most popular English-speaking streamer globally.
“This milestone represents a new personal best for IShowSpeed and affirms his status as the leading English-language streamer across all platforms,” remarked the company.
“Previously positioned eighth, he has now ascended to the top rank. His Instagram live stream from Indonesia allowed him to eclipse the historical record previously held by Australian Fortnite streamer LazarBeam by nearly 100,000 viewers. LazarBeam had held that record for over four years.”
In close pursuit of IShowSpeed and LazarBeam is the late Minecraft YouTuber Technoblade, who peaked with 854k viewers.
Twitch star Kai Cenat also boasts impressive viewership numbers, reaching over 700,000 during his memorable sleepover stream alongside Druski and Kevin Hart last June.
This is not the only feat IShowSpeed has reached during his Asian tour. On September 17, he surpassed an incredible 30,000,000 subscribers on YouTube. He even attempted a backflip to celebrate in front of thousands of fans in Cambodia, narrowly avoiding injury in the process.
However, his travels have been filled with unexpected events. Just moments into his first stream in Thailand, he lost control of a TukTuk and collided with the wall of a temple. Later on in that broadcast, he fell off an elephant and engaged in a spar with a professional Muay Thai fighter.
Upon arriving in Indonesia, Speed and his crew visited a monkey-packed forest, where one mischievous primate managed to steal one of his wireless microphones.
