IShowSpeed Discusses Temporary Paralysis Due to 24-Hour Backflip Challenge

IShowSpeed made a comeback to streaming after a four-day hiatus, revealing that he was left unable to move his legs due to an ambitious attempt at completing 650 backflips in one day, which ultimately prevented him from going live.

On October 12, Speed went live on YouTube for the first time since his endeavor to break the record for the most backflips performed within 24 hours. During the stream, he shared the details of his experience and the reasons for his absence.

“Once I realized that I couldn’t walk, I just went to sleep after ending the stream,” the streamer recounted, noting that upon waking up the following day, he found himself unable to rise.

“I genuinely thought I’d have to go to the hospital because I couldn’t move at all. I was unable to bend my legs, and I’m not exaggerating; that’s the true reason for my lack of streaming recently,” he explained.

Although some viewers were skeptical of his claims, he shot back, saying, “Okay, you all attempt 650 backflips and see how you feel the next day.”

Despite not achieving the record, IShowSpeed managed to complete a total of 660 backflips before stopping due to the extreme physical strain on his legs. The official record stands at 1,001, set in 2019 by Austria’s Nico Scheicher, meaning Speed fell 401 backflips short of the mark.

During his attempt, he mentioned trying to take breaks to recover strength and energy; however, even with the assistance of a massage therapist arranged by Jake Paul, he couldn’t continue.

This isn’t the first instance of streamers aiming to break world records during live broadcasts, and Speed’s efforts might have drawn inspiration from similar attempts made in September on Twitch.

These included Censor breaking the official record for the most pull-ups in 24 hours and PineappleHoops surpassing a controversial “butt-hooping”record that has yet to receive official recognition.
