IShowSpeed Faced Dismissal from UFC Star Dan Hooker During Cage Encounter

IShowSpeed Faces Dan Hooker in Epic Sparring Session

Popular streamer IShowSpeed recently entered the cage for a sparring session with UFC fighter Dan “Hangman”Hooker, but the experience didn’t go quite as planned for the YouTube sensation. During their time together, Hooker showcased his superior skills, dropping Speed multiple times throughout the bout.

Speed’s Global Adventures

In 2024, IShowSpeed has embarked on a globetrotting adventure, making streaming a more dynamic experience by visiting various locations. After exploring Europe and Southeast Asia, he has now taken his talents to Oceania, spending time in Australia before making his way to New Zealand.

Visiting City Kickboxing

After a few days in Australia engaging with local athletes, Speed arrived at City Kickboxing in New Zealand—known for producing some of the top mixed martial artists. This prestigious gym has been the training ground for both former UFC champion Israel Adesanya and current interim title challenger Kai Kara-France. However, it was the formidable Dan Hooker, boasting an impressive 24 wins in a decade-long UFC career, who awaited Speed in the sparring ring.

Encounter with UFC’s Elite

Upon arriving at City Kickboxing on November 25, Speed greeted various fighters and coaches, including Hooker himself. True to his bold persona, the streamer boasted, “Nobody in here can beat me at boxing.” That confidence soon faded as reality set in during the sparring match.

A Reality Check in the Cage

Speed found himself on the defensive after an amateur fighter from the gym landed some solid punches, accompanied by an early takedown. “They’re trying to scare me,”he remarked, adjusting the rules mid-session to favor his existing skill set. When it came time to face Hooker, Speed insisted, “No kicking; I know how this sport goes. I don’t want nothing broken. Let’s do boxing instead.”

During their bout, Speed spent most of his time circling the edge of the octagon, attempting to maintain distance from the experienced fighter. Unfortunately, his hesitations proved costly, as Hooker managed to land several strikes, putting Speed on the canvas more than once.

Bonding through Combat

As the sparring session unfolded, Hooker chuckled, “Welcome to my world, brother.” Although Speed initially complained about a weight disparity, Hooker reminded him, “I’m lighter than you,”as Speed had weighed in before the match began.

After exiting the cage, Speed offered a reluctant compliment: “He got me good. You’re a good fighter; I could tell you were going easy on me.” In response, Hooker praised Speed’s courage in a post on social media, stating, “Balls of steel, this man.”

Future Prospects for IShowSpeed

Although this isn’t Speed’s first foray into boxing on camera, the formidable challenge presented by Hooker indicates that a career in the UFC may not be on the horizon. However, given the rising phenomenon of influencer boxing, Speed may very well find his niche in that rapidly evolving arena.
