IShowSpeed Faces Investigation for Potential Visa Law Violations During Streams in New Zealand

YouTuber IShowSpeed is currently facing scrutiny from immigration authorities in New Zealand due to allegations of streaming without a valid work visa. However, controversy looms over the New Zealand segment of his tour. Officials have revealed that IShowSpeed entered the country on a visitor visa, which prohibits any form of work, including monetized streaming.

Potential Deportation for Visa Violation

As reported by 1News, Richard Owen, the general manager for risk and border at Immigration New Zealand, confirmed that Speed’s visa status is being assessed. Should it be determined that he has violated his visitor visa by earning income through his streams, he could face severe consequences.

Owen stated, “In assessing this case, we will follow our standard compliance procedures.”Immigrant advisor Ankur Sabharwal emphasized the necessity for IShowSpeed to acquire a work visa for any future trips to New Zealand. He added that officials will have to decide on the appropriate course of action regarding the current situation.

Sabharwal explained further, “If officials believe that he is violating the conditions of his visa by streaming for profit, they could issue a deportation liability notice.” He elaborated that Immigration New Zealand (INZ) has discretion regarding how to pursue any potential breaches of visa conditions.

Fortunately for IShowSpeed, he is scheduled to depart New Zealand on Wednesday, November 27, potentially averting any immediate legal repercussions. Nevertheless, this incident serves as a crucial reminder for content creators traveling abroad: securing the proper visa is essential to prevent legal complications.
