Ever since the beginning of the 2024 Olympics, Light Yagami from Death Note has garnered attention due to a viral photo circulating online. The image features Japan’s football coach, who happens to share the same name as the character, writing in a notepad.
As one of the most iconic anime globally, Death Note has served as a gateway for numerous non-anime fans to delve into the world of anime. Consequently, its protagonist, Light Yagami, has become a well-known figure among people worldwide. Thus, many were taken aback to discover that Japan’s football coach shared the same name as the beloved character.
Light Yagami’s Participation in Olympics Sparks Concern Among Fans for Other Teams
Ever since the beginning of the 2024 Olympics, a photo of a Japanese football coach has been circulating on the internet. What’s interesting is that the photo has been mistakenly labeled with the name of Death Note’s notorious protagonist, Light Yagami.
To add to the situation, just like in the anime where the protagonist is shown writing in the Death Note, the Light Yagami at the Olympics could also be observed writing in a notepad.
In truth, the image has been altered to include Japan’s football coach, Hajime Moriyasu. Additionally, the photo is from 2022 and is most likely from the FIFA World Cup, as indicated by the graphics resembling those used in the Qatar World Cup.
How Fans Reacted to Light Yagami in the 2024 Olympics
Fans were astonished to witness Light Yagami’s appearance at the 2024 Olympics, as many believed it signaled the downfall of other teams in the competition. Their excitement was heightened when the Japanese football coach was caught on camera jotting down notes, reminiscent of Light Yagami’s tactics in the anime.
“Dies of a heart attack exactly one second short of the world record,”one fan said.
“This is it L. My perfect victory,”another said.
Many other fans began to make light of the situation by comparing it to the events in the anime, suggesting that they may soon witness athletes suffering from heart attacks. One fan even playfully suggested that this could result in an athlete falling just shy of breaking a new world record by a single second.
One more supporter advocated for Light Yagami, just like in the anime, and boasted about his flawless triumph over the other main character in the series, L Lawliet.
“japan will be ruling the world soon,”another fan said.
“No community note, he just killed the entire Italian team,”other fan said.
After the Olympics, fans were convinced that Japan would begin dominating the world by defeating all of the major superpowers.
Additionally, a different Death Note enthusiast pointed out that the Light Yagami post did not receive a Community Note, serving as evidence that the image was authentic rather than edited. They then made a playful remark about how this could spell defeat for the Italian football team and their competitors.
