1. What happened in Chapter 158?
On the final day of Christmas in Miyazaki, Ruby’s career as an idol with B-Komachi takes flight. Throughout the chapter, she captivates the audience with her dazzling performances, showcasing her true potential as an idol.
Meanwhile, Nino stands silently in the audience, watching Ai’s performance with fanatic devotion. She firmly believes that Ai’s death was the key to her eternal and unsurpassable brilliance.
Watching her daughter outshine her on stage causes something to break inside of Ai. She is overwhelmed with disgust and hopelessness as she struggles to know how to respond. The image of Ai, the goddess she adores and worships, is gradually falling apart.
Nino makes the choice to ensure that Ruby remains the “best”forever by taking care of her. She takes matters into her own hands and puts her plan into action. As Ruby confidently makes her way to answer the door, Nino repeats the same act of stabbing her in the abdomen, mirroring what was done to Ai. The chapter comes to a close.
2. The Truth Behind the Stabbing of Ruby
Oshi no Ko has gained a reputation for its shocking and game-changing plot twists which are evident throughout the story. Akasaka’s writing is far from simplistic, as demonstrated by the unexpected event of Ruby’s stabbing which has sparked the amateur sleuths to come up with their own outlandish theories.
Despite our wildest imaginations, the truth is even more shocking. It’s hard to believe what we’re seeing. The person who was stabbed is not Ruby, causing fans to experience shock and PTSD and reminding us of the tragic death of AI.
The conclusion of the seemingly cheerful and upbeat chapter left us in shock. At the start of Chapter 158, Akane is shown, causing fans to speculate that she may be involved in the stabbing.
Despite what many believe, Akane is not the one at fault but rather the victim of the stabbing. According to the leaked information from Chapter 159, it was Akane who had dressed up as Ruby, possibly anticipating such an event. So, there is no need to mourn for our courageous heroine just yet!

Despite appearing as Ruby, Akane is not the one who is stabbed. Her intention is to disguise herself as Ruby in order to shield her from potential attacks. Additionally, she remains unscathed as she is wearing a protective vest, ensuring her safety from the knife.
This was all part of a plan to catch Nino in the act, which would clearly implicate him. It is highly probable that Ruby, our beloved idol, is unaware of the incidents taking place at her residence. Akane’s actions suggest the involvement of a mastermind behind this elaborate scheme.
It is highly probable that Aqua was the one who had planned ahead. He had strong feelings of regret over his inability to protect Ai when she was stabbed, and he did not want his sister to remain in danger. Therefore, he devised a plan to eliminate the unpredictable element, Nino.
Until the release of Chapter 159 on September 4th, we will remain in speculation and will not have access to the complete truth.
3. About Oshi no Ko
Since April 2020, it has been serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump and is set to receive an anime adaptation in 2023.
