The airing of My Hero Academia season 7 episode 11 on July 20, 2024 included the depiction of Bakugo’s final attack on Shigaraki. Despite the fact that Bakugo’s demise occurred in chapter 362 of the manga, many fans felt that the scene was not accurately portrayed in the adaptation.
Despite being produced alongside the You’re Next movie, season 7 managed to exceed all expectations for Bakugo’s “death”, which was undoubtedly one of the most monumental events of the Final War arc in the manga. Despite previous seasons setting lower expectations for this scene to be adapted well, season 7 surpassed them all.

My Hero Academia anime enhances Bakugo’s death
The initial episodes featured a well-executed battle between Star and Stripes and Shigaraki, while the current storyline has begun to depict the Heroes and All for One’s showdown, which also includes Bakugo’s apparent demise at the hands of Shigaraki.
The manga panel for this specific scene was highly impactful and intricately drawn. However, the anime further elevated it by highlighting the character’s pale skin, messy hair, and vacant eyes, aspects that were not as emphasized in the original manga.
Fan Response to Bakugo’s Alleged Death
Although Bakugo’s “death”was only briefly depicted in the manga, the anime adaptation successfully conveyed the entire sequence to the entire fandom through its use of the appropriate OST and extended scenes.
Only a few viewers commented on the clever use of a color palette swap in this scene, illustrating Bakugo’s loss of vitality through the fading and desaturation of the frame’s colors.
While mangas have depicted numerous deaths in the past and on-screen deaths are not uncommon in the medium, a fan pointed out that this particular anime adaptation stands out for its ability to portray a death in a more brutal manner than the manga.
“For the first time the anime managed to make some more gruesome than the manga,”one fan mentioned.
“The colour literally drained from him holy sh**,”another fan wrote.
Some fans also noted the difference in tone between the manga and anime versions of the same death. While the manga portrays a somber atmosphere, the anime presents a more ominous one.
“I really love both, the manga is more angelic in a way while the anime is nightmarish making you realize the situation as dreadful as it is. in both cases the representation of death stucks,”one fan wrote.
One fan also brought up the impressive adaptation of Bakugo’s death by Studio Bones, considering the numerous fanarts and colorings that had already depicted it well.
“how the hell did Bones manage to make this scene look even more painful than every colouring and fanart did,”another fan mentioned.
The 11th episode of My Hero Academia season 7 concluded with Best Jeanist standing over Bakugo’s lifeless body. The true condition of Bakugo will likely be disclosed in the next episode, but for now, it seems that episode 11 has marked the end of Katsuki Bakugo.
