IU Opens Up About Battling Skeeter Syndrome: “My Skin Swells and Becomes Infected”

During the show, IU shared her unpleasant experience regarding mosquito bites, noting, “When I get bitten by mosquitoes, it causes a reaction. I get a lump, like the old man with a boil.” She elaborated on this issue, saying, “It gets so bad that I have to take antibiotics because it gets infected and painful. It’s like a mosquito allergy.”

As the conversation progressed, DJ Yoo In-na presented information regarding a condition known as Skeeter Syndrome, to which IU immediately resonated, confirming, “That’s right. The area where I’m bitten swells up severely like an edema, and blisters form.”

Further deepening her account, IU mentioned, “Mosquitoes always bite my face, and it leaves scars. The areas I was bitten as a child still have dead skin, and some spots are numb to the touch.” Her heartfelt confession struck a chord with listeners, leading to a wave of sympathy for her plight.
