On September 12th, IU uploaded a video on her official YouTube channel titled, “I’m staying up all night practicing my cover song…”
Currently on her world tour, IU began her video at a hotel in Bangkok, Thailand. “I was going to go to bed, it’s 12 o’clock. It’s probably 2 o’clock in Korea,” she mentioned. “I have 10 concerts left in other countries. That’s why I turned on the camera.”
As IU looked at herself through the camera, she humorously covered her face, expressing, “Ugh, my under-eye bags..?” Discussing her cover song for the Thailand concert, titled “First Love,” she shared, “I practiced a lot while listening to it. During my birthday live, a UAENA commented, ‘IU, please show us practicing the cover songs!’ When I practice cover songs, I often lose concentration, focusing too much on difficult pronunciations and end up looking a bit silly. That’s why I’ve never done it before, but someone requested, ‘Please show us!’ I guess this cover song will be the last one of the tour.”
IU mentioned, “The pronunciation was very difficult. This is what I’m most worried about. I did three rehearsals, and I liked the last part, but it wasn’t easy.” Ultimately, IU performed the song perfectly and received an enthusiastic response. “I was so nervous. I was so happy while practicing because I loved this song,” she expressed joyfully in Thai.
Meanwhile, IU is set to hold the “2024 IU HEREH WORLD TOUR CONCERT ENCORE: THE WINNING” at the Seoul World Cup Stadium on September 21 and 22.
She expressed hope that their performance will enhance the experience at home, amid conversations regarding the quality of the grass at the World Cup Stadium due to a fan’s complaint about the concert.
