In 2022, IU was a notable guest at Jiyeon’s wedding. During the celebration, she not only delivered a heartfelt performance but also presented the bride with a beautiful tiara. She conveyed a heartfelt message to the groom, stating, “My friend doesn’t like to cry, so please make her laugh often and ensure her happiness!”

Unfortunately, IU’s wishes for Jiyeon seem to be unfulfilled.
On October 5, the lawyer representing Jiyeon and Hwang Jae Kyun confirmed to the South Korean media that the T-ara member had initiated divorce mediation at the Seoul Family Court in September. The couple is currently navigating the final stages of their divorce.
According to Jiyeon’s legal representative, “Jiyeon and Hwang Jae Kyun found it challenging to reconcile their differences. Following a separation period, both parties have consented to divorce and have formally requested mediation at the Seoul Family Court. As Jiyeon’s attorney, I kindly request that everyone refrains from making baseless speculations that could impact both individuals during this period.”
Her lawyer also emphasized that Jiyeon and her husband are parting ways on amicable terms and have reached a mutual agreement.
Born in 1993, IU and Jiyeon became friends while participating in the SBS variety show “Heroes,” which aired from 2010 to 2011.
Following the conclusion of “Heroes,”the two idols maintained a strong friendship and often referred to each other as “best friends.” In September, Jiyeon and Hwang Jae Kyun were seen together at one of IU’s concerts, highlighting their enduring bond.
Jiyeon shared that IU has been there for her throughout both challenging and joyous times, exemplifying her unwavering loyalty.
