IVE Jang Wonyoung Rumored to be Targeting Sojang for Criticism – Here’s Why
IVE, consisting of An Yujin, Gaeul, Rei, Jang Wonyoung, Liz, and Leeseo, ultimately made their much-anticipated comeback to the music industry with their second EP, “IVE SWITCH,”on April 29th.
On this day, “HEYA”and “Accendio,”its double title tracks, along with six other new tracks, were released on various online music platforms.
Following its release, the album has been met with a warm reception from K-pop enthusiasts, particularly DIVEs (the fandom).
However, what truly captured the attention of netizens was the song, “Blue Heart,”in which Jang Wonyoung contributed as the only lyricist.
The team’s confidence and unique sensibility were truly captured by listening to the song, particularly the b-side track which stands out during the part with the lyrics, “You will be exposed, red lie// You can’t escape it, red line.”
There was speculation among netizens that Jang Wonyoung had employed metaphors in her statements. After analyzing their true significance, it became clear that she was symbolically drawing a “red line”to challenge any potential “outright lies.”
This Blue Heart lyrics are so cool…You have to double translate from eng➡️kor➡️eng again to really understand the meaning Red lie➡️새빨간 거짓말 (metaphor)Red line➡️빨간줄 (metaphor)So the rmeaning is:”An absolute lie has got caughtCan’t avoid, criminal record”pic.twitter.com/9GajVJiXpz

Some speculations have been made online suggesting that the “ELEVEN”singer may have indirectly criticized Sojang, the infamous YouTuber known for “Talkdeok Camp.”
In a recent development, Jang Wonyoung, with the support of her agency Starship Entertainment, filed a lawsuit against the owner of a YouTube channel for disseminating false information about her and other idols.
Despite the difficulties of handling the case in South Korea, Jang persistently appealed to Google’s overseas headquarters four times to disclose Sojang’s personal information. After a lengthy legal battle, the U.S. court ultimately released the YouTuber’s information in July 2023, setting a precedent for future lawsuits against the company.
After issuing a formal apology, the “Taldeok Camp”account was deleted, but during the subsequent trial, the court ruled in favor of Jang Wonyoung in her lawsuit against them for damages. As a result, Sojang was ordered to pay 100 million won (73k USD). Jang Wonyoung is currently in the process of appealing the decision made in the first trial.
The True Meaning of ‘Blue Heart’ According to IVE’s Jang Wonyoung
During their comeback commemorative live, Jang Wonyoung addressed the speculations surrounding the song and explained:
“I wrote the lyrics very honestly because I thought these were emotions that everyone can feel after going through many experiences, so I would be grateful if you listened to them a lot.”

She highlighted that the intention of the writing was to depict a “powerful female”persona. This entails living with confidence and opting for a tough, unemotional, blue heart instead of a warm, red one.
In the meantime, IVE has achieved a string of hits with songs like their first release, “ELEVEN,””LOVE DIVE,””After LIKE,”‘I AM,”and “BADDIE.”
“Once again, “HEYA”has proven its strong addictiveness as it successfully entered MelOn’s Top 100 chart, reaching an impressive 13th position. This achievement has sparked interest for the song’s future performance.”
