Jae from DAY6 Opens Up: ‘I Feel Erased from the Band… It Hurts’

On the 12th, Jae (real name Park Jae Hyung), who departed from DAY6, appeared on the popular U.S. radio show Zach Sang Show and was asked, “What are your thoughts on DAY6’s last EP, Fourever?” Fourever is DAY6’s 8th mini-album, released in March after the members returned from their military service hiatus, marking their first release in nearly three years.

In response, Jae admitted, “To be honest, it hurt a little. I understand the overall analysis and the backstory they provided, but from my perspective, it’s tough to see anything related to DAY6. It brings back many memories for me.”

He continued, “So for a while, it was a difficult thing for me. Even going back to Korea was hard. I felt anxiety, discomfort. I’m not sure exactly what it was, but I’ve gotten a lot better now and feel like I’ve overcome much of that emotion,” he said. “But when I first saw the album, my initial instinct was that someone was trying to erase me from that history. I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad thing, but it hurt.”

Jae explained, “I gave up my career in Korea for that team. I fought in every way I could to promote the group. But now that I’ve left, it feels like they’re trying to erase everything I did.” He added, “But I understand. If that’s the closure they need, I think there’s nothing I can do.”

He clarified, “This isn’t something directed at the members but at the label. Even though I wrote many songs and spent my 20s there, it feels like I’m just being erased,” expressing his frustration.

Despite this, Jae expressed his continued support for the members, saying, “But I completely respect the members and sincerely wish them the best. DAY6 will definitely reach the top of the world, and they are already on their way there. They’re doing incredible things. I don’t know if I should be saying this, but I’m really proud of them.”

Additionally, Jae addressed rumors of his potential return to DAY6, stating, “There are rumors that I’m returning to DAY6, but that’s absolutely not true,” drawing a clear line.

Jae officially left DAY6 and terminated his exclusive contract with JYP Entertainment on December 31, 2021. At that time, he shared on his social media, “I feel incredibly grateful for the past six years, filled with happiness and unforgettable memories. I’ve thought a lot and tried my best, but I feel like I’m still lacking in many areas to stay here. After discussions with the company, I’ve come to the conclusion that I need to take a break, and I’m deeply sorry for that.”
