Before he became a prominent solo artist, Jaejoong first gained fame as a member of the boy band TVXQ (also recognized as DBSK) under the management of SM Entertainment.
In 2009, Jaejoong, along with fellow members Yoochun and Junsu, took legal action against SM Entertainment to suspend their contracts. At that time, Jaejoong accused SM of unfairly distributing the profits from TVXQ’s activities, lacking transparency regarding financial matters, and enforcing what they referred to as a “slave contract” on the idols.
Ultimately, the court ruled in Jaejoong’s favor; however, he faced industry “blacklisting” for several years due to SM’s influence.
Currently, Jaejoong appears to have moved past the repercussions of SM’s actions. Recently, he gained attention for a “savage response” regarding his previous lawsuit.
Particularly, Jaejoong’s niece shared a recent update on SNS about their conversation.

According to her, she mentioned her fondness for NCT, another artist managed by SM Entertainment, prompting Jaejoong to reply cheekily, “Really? You know I was with SM for 8 years and even ended up suing them, right?”
The niece accompanied her post with the caption “LOOOOOL I should just die” , sharing a photo of a trophy Jaejoong received during his time with TVXQ.
This humorous interaction resonated with netizens, garnering considerable attention and even going viral on the SNS platform X (formerly Twitter) with over 2.2 million views.
