Michael Bisping has expressed his support for Jake Paul to participate in the boxing event at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. The ex-UFC fighter believes it would be an “amazing”achievement if Jake were to secure a medal.
Ever since entering the professional boxing world, Jake Paul has had multiple goals in mind. His aspirations include facing well-known opponents and ultimately winning a world championship. The WBA has expressed interest in potentially having him compete against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. for a title, although this may only occur after Jake’s anticipated fight against Mike Tyson.
Moreover, the ‘Problem Child’ has set his sights on a new objective – winning an Olympic medal. This idea was sparked after the underwhelming performance of Team USA at Paris 2024, where they were unable to secure a medal in any of the boxing weight categories.
During an interview on BS with Jake Paul, he expressed his frustration with constantly waiting for Team USA to win another gold medal. He clarified that he has no plans to retire and in fact, this experience has motivated him to extend his boxing career in Los Angeles, United States. He described the city as “sick as f**k.”
Former UFC star Michael Bisping has now given his support to the plan of the YouTuber-turned-boxer.
“I must say, I have a great deal of admiration for (that idea). If he were to participate in the Olympics, he wouldn’t have the luxury of hand-picking opponents. He wouldn’t be able to choose seasoned fighters like 58-year-old Mike Tyson, as it wouldn’t be his promotion,”Bisping stated in his YouTube video on August 12.
The time recorded was 2:50.
‘The Count’ stated that he would like to see Jake face opponents who have a similar height and weight as him.
When Jake Paul fought someone who was the same size and weight as him in the past, it resulted in a loss. However, I am not trying to criticize Jake Paul. In fact, I commend him and hope he pursues his goal of competing in the Olympics. It would be truly admirable if he were to face genuine opponents and overcome real challenges, as evidenced by his previous defeat to Tommy Fury.
Bisping also commented that Jake’s victory would be “incredible”if he were to win Olympic gold. However, it would be a difficult feat to accomplish as he would have to box every few days.
It is possible that boxing will not be included in the 2028 Olympics. Therefore, we will need to be patient and observe the outcome.
