Former UFC Lightweight Champion Benson Henderson is calling on Jake Paul to fight Mike Tyson for free on YouTube, asserting that this would demonstrate Paul’s commitment beyond monetary gain.
Mike Tyson’s anticipated return to the boxing ring against influencer Jake Paul has sparked controversy, particularly regarding concerns for Tyson’s health given his age.
Despite various warnings, Tyson appears resolute in moving forward with the fight, showcasing an unshakeable determination amidst the apprehensions expressed by the combat sports community.
One notable critic is Benson Henderson, a former UFC champion turned boxer, who posits that Jake Paul’s motivations for engaging in this match with the 58-year-old Tyson are primarily financial.
In an interview with talkSPORT, Henderson expressed his concerns regarding the stark age difference between ‘Iron Mike’ and ‘The Problem Child.’

“Almost in no sport would a 58-year-old have a realistic chance against a 27-year-old in one-on-one combat,” he remarked. “It’s only feasible if the younger competitor is significantly less skilled and the elder maintains high-level competence and active involvement in the sport.”
Set to take place on November 15, the match will be broadcast live on Netflix, yet Henderson insists that Paul should host the fight for free if he truly isn’t motivated by profit. Notably, Jake Paul has openly stated he stands to earn a staggering $40 million from this event.
“This is clearly a lucrative opportunity. I believe there’s really no other reason for this fight except to profit,” the former UFC champion articulated. “If anyone contends there is an alternate motivation for this matchup, I challenge them to do it for free. You’re a YouTube star? Great! Make it available for free on YouTube and I’ll believe it’s not all about the money.”
Jake Paul is set to face Mike Tyson on November 15.
“The entire affair revolves around financial gain, which is perfectly acceptable. I respect those who pursue their means of making a living; no disrespect intended. Everyone needs to pay their bills. However, I’m not particularly fond of the situation,” he elaborated.
While it seems unlikely that such a high-stakes matchup will transition to a no-cost event, Mike Tyson himself has even acknowledged that his upcoming return to boxing is largely about the financial rewards.
In a recent appearance on Logan Paul’s podcast, Tyson dismissed the warnings from Jake’s older brother about the risks linked to the fight, focusing instead on the rewards that come with possibly his final boxing engagement.
“Here’s what’s going to unfold: Two fighters will compete, one will emerge victorious, they may face off again, and then they will return to their respective financial institutions and move on with their lives,” Tyson forecasted.
