Jake Paul Reveals Mike Tyson Wasn’t His Initial Choice for Netflix Super Fight

Jake Paul recently disclosed that Mike Tyson was not his initial choice for a super fight this year, revealing he explored another rival as well.

Throughout the years, discussions between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson regarding a potential fight were met with uncertainty about whether it would ever materialize. However, in March, they officially announced that the highly anticipated match would finally take place.

The original fight date was scheduled for July, but a late health issue involving ‘Iron’ Mike prompted the need for rescheduling. The fighters are now set to meet on November 15. Jake Paul acknowledged that the 58-year-old boxing legend wasn’t his primary preference for this bout.

On September 19, Jake welcomed Steve-O as a guest on his BS with Jake Paul podcast, discussing the upcoming showdown and how the situation could have unfolded differently.

“Netflix advised, ‘All right, go out and negotiate with three different opponents,’” Jake explained to the Jackass star. “We reached out to Tommy Fury and Mike Tyson.”

“Tommy had an inflated ego, demanding a much higher paycheck than his value suggested and he fails to grasp the realities of his worth. His father essentially acts as his manager but lacks understanding of the boxing landscape today. They couldn’t see that this could be one of the most viewed fights in history. Meanwhile, Mike Tyson was on board, so we proceeded with him.”

Previously, Jake expressed a desire to face Tommy Fury again to avenge the only loss on his boxing record.

The younger Fury has even challenged the social media star to an MMA match. According to PFL CEO Peter Murray, Jake is “finishing up” with boxing after the Tyson fight.

However, his anticipated debut in the cage in 2025 will be against a “credible” MMA fighter rather than another crossover athlete.
