Jake Paul vs Mike Perry confirmed after Mike Tyson fight delay

Jake Paul has secured a new opponent for his upcoming fight on July 20, as his original match with boxing icon Mike Tyson had to be rescheduled.

Following ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson’s decision to postpone his return to the ring due to an ulcer flare-up, rumors of Jake Paul taking on former UFC fighter Mike Perry began to surface. Tyson’s doctors had advised him to ease up on his training and focus on recovery, leading to speculation about a potential replacement for his scheduled fight.

Paul announced on June 18 that he would be exchanging opponents for his scheduled fight on July 20. 22-8 MMA fighter Mike Perry has agreed to step in and face him.

But rather than competing on Netflix in Texas, this match will occur at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida.

Jake Paul is set to take on Mike Perry on July 20.

Even after his fight with Tyson was postponed, Paul was determined to find an opponent for the July 20 date. Logan, his brother, suggested he could step in for Tyson and even reached out to Netflix for a potential match, but it appears that the streaming platform is intent on airing Tyson’s comeback.

“After the rescheduling of Paul vs. Tyson, I was determined to still fight on Saturday, July 20. As I train for my upcoming match against Iron Mike, I am confident that Mike Perry is the perfect opponent for me,”stated Paul.

“He is a skilled knockout specialist and has a reputation for being intense both in and out of the boxing ring. This fight will provide me with valuable experience before I take on the challenge of facing Mike Tyson. However, there is a level of risk involved. As someone who is known for taking risks, I am not afraid. Even if my opponent, ‘Platinum’ Perry, tries to defeat me, I, Titanium Jake Paul, do not fear any man. I am confident in securing the victory and giving everyone a glimpse of what I will bring to the ring against Mike Tyson.”

Perry has also made a commitment to deliver an exciting fight for fans, vowing to apply intense pressure on The Problem Child.

Despite the recent announcement of the bout, rumors of the upcoming contest have been circulating for some time. As a result, several former UFC legends have cautioned Jake against facing Perry.

Former UFC champion Michael Bisping described Jake’s decision as a “huge error,”while commending Perry for being the embodiment of a true fighter.

Despite the fight being made official, Paul remained undeterred and appeared as confident as ever.

“It remains a fact that every opponent has faced me on the floor. With five months until my clash with Tyson, I am determined to prepare for battle. In the meantime, Perry and I will electrify Tampa. I have no fear of any man, and will face them anytime, anywhere, and anyplace.”

Despite the passing of time, Paul’s scheduled fight against Tyson is still set to take place on Friday, November 15 later this year.
