Jamie Carragher has identified Kobbie Mainoo as the sole Manchester United player he would bring to Liverpool, praising the 18-year-old as a “potential superstar”.
A fan asked former Liverpool defender Carragher which current members of the Manchester United squad he would choose to have at Anfield.
The Sky Sports commentator wasted no time in declaring Mainoo as his top pick, praising the teenager’s potential with great enthusiasm.
During his appearance on The Overlap, he expressed his preference for the young player, Mainoo. When asked about his reasoning, Carragher highlighted the player’s age and potential to become a superstar.
“I’m trying to consider if there is anyone else in the United team who could potentially perform better in their position. Perhaps [Marcus] Rashford, given that Liverpool have a new manager this summer. Would that be a position worth considering?”
“While Luis Diaz is a good player, I do not consider him to be great. Therefore, I believe there is room for improvement in that position. However, Mainoo, who plays in central midfield, is a strong option for his age.”
In addition, Gary Neville was inquired about his preference for a Liverpool player to join Manchester United. The ex-Red responded by stating that he would pick Virgil van Dijk.
The topic will begin at 18:32.
The decision caused some surprise, particularly since Neville had the option to choose Mo Salah instead.
“According to him, Van Dijk’s addition to the team would bring a sense of dominance and a much-needed presence that is currently lacking at Man United.”
“While we may not have a forward as exceptional as Mo Salah, we do have a group of skilled forwards on our team.”
This weekend, two fierce rivals, Liverpool and Manchester United, will face each other in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Sunday, April 7th.
