Jamie Lee Curtis apologizes for “talking sh*t” about the MCU

Jamie Lee Curtis is attempting to reconcile after facing criticism for her negative comments about the MCU.

The iconic figure from horror movies posted on her Instagram, expressing regret for remarks she had made about the MCU during promotional interviews for her upcoming movie, Borderlands.

Curtis stated in the caption of her Instagram post, which features a clip of Borderlands co-star Kevin Hart discussing her role as a leader on set, that leaders should not speak negatively about other creators in collaborative art forms.

After reflecting, I regret my remarks about Marvel and I am determined to make amends. I have personally contacted Kevin Feige and have decided to refrain from participating in any competitive or clickbait tactics, including the toilet paper promotion, in the future. My focus will now be solely on creating meaningful content.

In recent years, Curtis has gained a reputation as a fervent advocate for nerd culture. She has been spotted at popular events like EVO and BlizzCon, donning cosplays that concealed her identity. Additionally, she actively campaigned to be cast in Netflix’s One Piece (a role that was almost secured).

The comment in question is not particularly harmful. When questioned about the current phase of the MCU, Curtis straightforwardly replied, “Terrible.”

In a 2022 Instagram post, she also criticized Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, comparing it to her own multiverse-bending sci-fi film, Everything Everywhere All At Once.

Curtis stated in the post that [Everything Everywhere All At Once] possesses an impressive core and stunning visuals, along with incredible acting and thrilling fight sequences. Notably, the film was made with a smaller budget than the craft service costs for Doctor Strange or any other Marvel movie.

On August 9, 2024, Borderlands, featuring Jamie Lee Curtis in the role of Tannis, will be released in theaters. If this movie is not your preference, there are plenty of other options for entertainment, such as the top streaming movies of the month or the most addictive TV shows currently available.
