A new video titled “Hello, I’m Jang Geun-suk. I have something to confess”was uploaded to Jang Geun-suk’s YouTube channel on August 16th.
In the video, Jang Geun-suk revealed that he was diagnosed with thyroid cancer a year ago, stating, “It’s been 2 weeks since my surgery and I still can’t open my mouth.”
The actor explained that he had delayed discussing the issue out of concern for causing others to worry, but reassured fans that he had already undergone surgery. Jang Geun-suk further disclosed that he had been frightened for 8 days and was unable to be physically active during that time.
He stated, “I had a checkup today and the results, two weeks following the surgery, were positive. I am happy to finally share this news with you all.”
After learning about Jang Geun-suk’s thyroid cancer diagnosis, fans expressed their worries. In response, Jang Geun-suk’s agency CRAFT42 released a statement saying, “Actor Jang Geun-suk was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in October of last year. He underwent surgery in May of this year, after completing his scheduled activities and consulting with medical professionals. The surgery was a success and his health has significantly improved. Currently, the actor is undergoing regular check-ups and is working hard to regain his health.”
They stated, “Jang Geun-suk’s decision to openly discuss his surgery was motivated by his desire to provide support and encouragement to those facing challenging situations, using his positive energy as a source of inspiration” .
At the same time, Jang Geun-suk made an appearance in the recently launched Netflix show “The Influencer”.
