Jang Na-ra’s K-drama Gains Popularity for Reflecting the Divorce of 2 Prominent Korean Stars

On August 30th, it was reported that the well-known host Park Ji-Yoon has initiated a compensation lawsuit against an individual referred to as A. The initial hearing of the case took place at the Jeju District Court, Second Criminal Department, with a follow-up hearing scheduled for October 29th. Meanwhile, B is purportedly associated with Choi Dong-Suk, who is Park Ji-Yoon’s husband.

While Park Ji-Yoon’s representatives issued a statement saying, “We’d like to apologize for any inconvenience caused by the artist’s personal affairs,” Choi Dong-Suk took a more decisive approach through social media.

Park Ji Yoon

Specifically, the television personality confirmed that Park Ji-Yoon had indeed sued his acquaintance, asserting, “There was absolutely no wrongdoing during my marriage to Park Ji-Yoon. I will pursue vigorous legal action against any defamatory claims based on unfounded allegations.”

In response, he has also filed his own lawsuit against both Park Ji-Yoon and B, claiming that their affair was a significant factor in the breakdown of his marriage.

YouTuber Lee Jin-ho disclosed that Park Ji-Yoon’s infidelity lawsuit was filed in June, originating from a gathering Choi Dong-Suk attended with friends earlier in the year. The situation reportedly intensified when photographs from the gathering appeared on social media.

The similarities between this legal case and the recently aired SBS drama “Good Partner” are quite remarkable. In the show, Kim Ji-sang (played by Ji Seung-hyun) accuses Cha Eun-kyung (portrayed by Jang Na-ra) of engaging in an “office affair” and spreads rumors regarding her “office husband.” Cha Eun-kyung strikes back by revealing his “double life,” but Kim Ji-sang employs a counter-strategy despite her evidence.

Indeed, the affairs depicted in “Good Partner” were so convoluted that Jang Na-ra found herself questioning the very reason for marriage.

Choi Yu-ra, the writer of “Good Partner,” responded to critiques regarding the show’s seemingly extreme content during an appearance on “Yoo Quiz on the Block,” stating, “In reality, it’s even more intense.” She emphasized that actual divorce cases often eclipse the drama’s portrayals.

As the courts will ultimately determine the fate of Park Ji-Yoon and Choi Dong-Suk’s custody and infidelity disputes, this case brings to light a significant aspect explored in “Good Partner”: children often bear the brunt of contentious divorces. This is particularly troubling considering that Park Ji-Yoon and Choi Dong-Suk’s children are already exposed to public scrutiny through various social media channels. The fallout from their parents’ mutual allegations could have long-term repercussions for these young lives.
