According to Smart FLASH, a local media outlet, the program ‘2024 Music Day’ is receiving backlash for its significant representation of K-POP artists.
Critics argue that no more than three international artists should be featured on domestic music broadcasts. Despite this, the highly popular K-POP bands ENHYPEN, TXT, NewJeans, BOYNEXTDOOR, and LE SSERAFIM are set to perform on ‘2024 Music Day.’
This suggests that K-POP has become widely accepted as mainstream music in Japan, although the significant number of Korean artists has resulted in certain criticisms.
NewJeans’ fan meeting at the Tokyo Dome on the 6th was a resounding success, highlighting the immense popularity of K-POP artists in Japan. As a result, it is expected for Japanese broadcasters to showcase multiple K-POP artists on their music programs.
Additionally, not just Korean idols, but also actors are making a strong presence in the Japanese market.

Recently, after a 13-year hiatus, Choi Ji-woo, also known as ‘Princess Ji-woo,’ has made her return to Japanese drama. In the upcoming second season of ‘Black Pean,’ she will take on the role of Park So-hyun, a Korean doctor who oversees both a hospital and a restaurant.
