Despite the fact that Netflix currently only has one of Jeff Goldblum’s films available for streaming, it just so happens to be one of the most highly regarded biblical adaptations ever made.
Goldblum’s new series Kaos is filling the void that many viewers were feeling in the absence of a show like Succession, solidifying his status as a major name in the streaming service industry.
Despite receiving praise for his role in the TV series, the actor’s movies are not as popular on Netflix, with only one of his films currently available for streaming and it is not one of his successful dinosaur movies.
Currently, the platform hosts The Prince of Egypt, a 1998 movie musical based on the Book of Exodus. The film depicts the journey of Moses and his role in leading the Hebrews out of Egypt.
Goldblum portrays Aaron, Moses’ biological brother, who initially harbors a deep resentment towards the prince. This stems from their mother’s decision to send him away for a better life, while he and his sister Miriam (played by Sandra Bullock) were left behind with a less fortunate existence.
In addition to Goldblum, The Prince of Egypt boasts a star-studded cast, featuring Val Kilmer as Moses, Ralph Fiennes as his older brother Rameses, Michelle Pfeiffer as Tzipporah (Moses’ wife), and many other talented actors.
Although the film draws heavily from the second book of the Bible, DreamWorks made sure that its musical style was entirely unique. This decision was made because they wanted their second animated feature to stand out among the multitude of Disney musicals.
Despite being adapted from a single religious text, The Prince of Egypt has managed to achieve a remarkable rating of 90% on Rotten Tomatoes, thanks to its breathtaking visuals and memorable songs.
Despite some viewers being unable to overlook its retelling of biblical events, others have highly praised the film. In fact, one viewer described it as “an inspiring interpretation of biblical grandeur,”transforming the tale of one of history’s greatest heroes into a captivating and visually stunning animated feature.
