Jennie Addresses Conflict Rumors with CL and Supports BABYMONSTER at 2NE1 Concert

On October 6th, Jennie shared multiple images on her Instagram, accompanied by the caption “Funday Sunday.”

In the photos posted, Jennie showcased her stylish look, featuring brown knee-high boots, a denim shirt, and a cozy brown knit layer. She completed her outfit with a denim shoulder bag from Chanel, the brand she represents as an ambassador, while attending a concert for her labelmates, 2NE1.

Next to her, actress Yang Hye Ji drew attention. Born in 1998, like Jennie, Yang Hye Ji is an actress who has several similarities with Jennie, including sharing the same birth month of January and both debuting in 2016.

Interestingly, there have been numerous rumors indicating tension between BLACKPINK and 2NE1. On the first day of the concert, BLACKPINK did not send a congratulatory video to their senior group, while many other artists offered supportive messages for the anniversary.

Furthermore, discussions around CL’s subtle social media comments aimed at Jennie generated significant debate among fans. This situation traces back to November 12, 2018, when BLACKPINK’s Jennie debuted her solo single. Shortly thereafter, fans noticed CL’s cryptic tweet stating: “udontsendrabbitstokillatiger” (“Don’t send a rabbit to kill a tiger”).

This led many to speculate that CL was uncomfortable with fans tagging her while promoting Jennie’s new venture. This sentiment, along with CL’s feeling of neglect by YG Entertainment while BLACKPINK garnered immense attention, intensified the controversy online.

Jennie was also observed reacting enthusiastically to BABYMONSTER’s performance multiple times. At one point, she was seen recording their stage and affectionately referred to herself as their “eomma” (mother), showcasing her pride as she danced and sang along to their track “Sheesh.”

Before their official debut, Jennie had taken on a mentoring role for BABYMONSTER, and it’s evident that her fondness for them remains strong!

Jennie’s appearance at the concert suggests that there are no underlying issues between the three YG female groups.

In other news, Jennie is set to make her comeback on the 11th with a new solo single, having recently entered into a partnership with Columbia Records, a prominent American music label. She has also teased her return by sharing a short video on social media featuring the phrase “CALLING ALL PRETTY GIRLS.”
