The controversy surrounding Jennie (BLACKPINK) smoking indoors and blowing smoke in an employee’s face continues to be a highly discussed topic, even a month after it occurred. Following the release of this major scandal in her career, Jennie has decreased her activity on social media.
Contrarily, she used her two latest Instagram Story updates to honor the birthdays of two longstanding staff members. This gesture has led some to believe that Jennie is attempting to disprove rumors of her alleged “misuse of authority”that have circulated online in light of the smoking controversy.
Despite Jennie’s post causing controversy among netizens, the situation escalated when Jaemin, the Creative Director of ODDATELIER, was bombarded with criticism from Jennie’s fans. They accused him of not prioritizing his work and simply indulging himself during business trips. The backlash was so severe that he resorted to limiting comments on his personal Instagram account.
Despite this, when Jennie shared photos with the Creative Director, netizens voiced their dissatisfaction and made it clear that they were uninterested. Some users on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) bluntly questioned: “Why can’t she just post these pictures on her personal account? We really don’t care about that.”
Another remark stated: “Jennie, please understand that we are not interested in seeing these things; our only concern is for you and your album.”
Nevertheless, there were those who came to Jennie’s defense amidst the exaggerated reactions from the online community. One person stated, “Those who dislike Jaemin must be seething with anger at the moment. It’s important to remember that those closest to Jennie know her best. If you are not a friend of Jennie’s, you have no authority to pass judgment on those in her inner circle. Always keep that in mind.”
